Once a week, for a couple of hours, you'll be their sighted guide, helper, and friend.

What you'll do

  • Tackle errands like grocery runs and shopping trips
  • Go for walks and explore the neighbourhood
  • Chat, laugh, and build a real friendship

What's in it for you

  • Make a lasting difference in your community
  • Build and sharpen your client service skills
  • Join a passionate team of staff and volunteers working toward CNIB's mission
  • Get a reference or confirmation of hours after 3 months of successful participation (just ask!)

You might be a great fit if you are

  • Trustworthy, patient, empathetic, and friendly
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently
  • A strong communicator
  • 18 or older

What we ask

  • A six-month commitment
  • A background check, including a Clear Police Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check

What we provide

CNIB will set you up for success with an orientation on CNIB, the people we help, vision loss, and volunteering with us. You'll also get training specific to your role, including how to be a great Vision Mate and what to do if challenges come up.
