Senior MAP volunteers provide academic tutoring and mentorship to high school students. This role combines in-person support at BGC London and Montcalm Secondary School with supervised virtual homework help hosted at Montcalm. Volunteers break down course concepts, model study strategies, and help students plan for post-secondary options while creating a respectful, encouraging learning environment. Location & Schedule: In-person: BGC London & Montcalm Secondary School Virtual sessions hosted at Montcalm Secondary School Dates: Oct 6th, 2025 – June 25th, 2026 Days: Monday-Thursday from 2:30 PM -7:00 PM Commitment: Flexible shifts, 1–12 hours/week Duties: Tutor students in math, science, English and related subjects (comfortable to Grade 9–10 level; assist beyond where confident). Lead or co-facilitate one-on-one and small-group sessions, both in-person and online. Use online platforms (Zoom/Teams, Google Docs, shared whiteboards) for virtual help. Help students set study goals, plan assignments, and practice time-management. Monitor student progress, provide encouraging feedback, and notify staff of any concerns. Follow program policies for safety, confidentiality, and online communication. Assist with setup and tidy up of tutoring spaces and digital resources. Education / Skills: Ideal candidates: University or college students, recent graduates, or senior high school students (Grades 11–12) Comfortable with Grade 9–10 content in at least one subject area. Basic familiarity with video calls and online collaboration tools. Patient, reliable, calm communicator; able to explain steps clearly.
