PHSS is a non-profit organization that provides unique and flexible supports and services so that people with complex medical, physical, and/or developmental needs can live the life they choose as part of the community.
PHSS supports more than 250 individuals in more than 60 locations across Ontario, providing 24-hour residential supports, day and overnight respite, specialized complex medical care and intensive behavioural supports, recreational programs, and support for individuals living at home with their families. We do not believe in discharging people from our supports because their needs increase or change; our services are flexible and innovative, shaped around the needs of the people we support and always adjusting in response to changes in their circumstances.
Through a unique suite of individual services and supports, PHSS provides an alternative to institutional care. PHSS hires highly qualified staff to provide support in over 60 accessible locations throughout Ontario, and each location is home to between two-five adults. By offering home-based supports, we reduce the pressure on hospitals and institutions and in many cases, substantially reduce the cost of care.
We are committed to encouraging and creating an inclusive community where individuals with disabilities have access to all the community has to offer and are included in a valued and meaningful way. Because we believe that family and friends are an important part of life, we seek to build support circles and encourage people supported to play an active role in the decision-making process.
Our mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. Our work bridges the gap between education and the real world by delivering specialized programs both in school and after school.
Our programs focus on financial health, work readiness and entrepreneurship – giving students in grades 4-12 the tools they need for their futures.
Working with corporate partners, volunteers and teachers, we create important connections to the workforce and prepare youth for the jobs of tomorrow. JA South Western Ontario supports students from Windsor-Essex to Grey-Bruce to Niagara.
JA programs are delivered by dedicated volunteers.
They bring their professional experiences into the classroom to help students connect program concepts with real-life situations. Volunteers use a mix of hands-on activities, discussions and digital learning to engage students and ensure they retain and use what they learn. With their help, students gain the knowledge and confidence they need to define their personal success and go after their dreams.
