VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: BOARD OF GOVERNORS COMMUNITY MEMBER The Governance of Montessori Academy is the responsibility of a volunteer board consisting of a committed group of alumni, alumni parents, current parents, community members and ex-officio school officers with a passion for education and the growth and development of children. To learn more about our current Board members, visit the school’s website: www.montessori.on.ca/about/board-of-governors/ It is the mandate of this group to provide oversight and direction to support the legacy of Montessori Academy of London and ensure that strong Montessori education is available in London for years to come. The Board assumes strategic and fiscal responsibility for the Academy, meeting regularly throughout the school year and having responsibility for several board-mandated committees. Seeking a Community Member to join the board Montessori Academy of London’s Board of Governors seeks a new community member to replace a Board Officer who is joining our school as a parent. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise and knowledge in Human Resources, Information Technology, and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Previous experience sitting on a Board and an understanding of board governance is helpful. The Board is currently accepting applications and actively recruiting for this role. Governor Role and Responsibilities Serve as a member of the Board of Governors for term of 3 years Attend Board meetings which are held approximately 9 times per year Sit on one of the board’s standing committees Provide support to the Executive Director in areas involving their subject-matter expertise Experience Familiarity with the not-for-profit sector and previous not-for-profit board experience is an asset, but not a requirement. Expertise and knowledge in Human Resources, Information Technology, and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
