We are currently looking for volunteers to help run our annual walk. This event has been a huge success in past years, but this year, we’ve had to adapt the event due to Covid-19, and we are now encouraging people to Walk the Block for Parkinson’s!    To transition this event, we’ve implemented the Community Champions program: people who would usually be helping out at the walk on the day of the event are now going to be our Champions in spreading the word! As a community champion you will Invite people to be part of the event, Share the event within your community and networks and Mobilize others to make Walk the Block a success by sharing your plans, thinking up creative ideas on how to tell others about the event and encouraging people to communicate online!  We are currently seeking out volunteers for two different positions: Community champion leads and community champions. Community champion leads: Community champion leads are passionate individuals who have the capability to inspire others in the community! In this role, you will support the Community Champions in your area. You will be leaders for these volunteers as you equip them with everything they need to invite, share and mobilize people to walk. Roles/responsibilities:  Communicate with community champions through the facebook group and email to keep them informed on updates with the walk Get community champions involved with the implementation of marketing initiatives leading up to the walk Track what community champions have accomplished and their plans for getting their community involved Recruit community champions (via emails, calls to past participants, etc.) Act as a contact person alongside the community champions in your area to keep the members of your community informed about the walk! Share advertising resources created by marketing team Time commitment: 5 hrs/week   Community Champions: A Community Champion is an enthusiastic individual who has a passion of mobilizing people for a good cause. A Community Champion spreads awareness and excitement around their neighbourhood and community! This role encourages people to participate in WALK THE BLOCK for Parkinson’s. Tell all your friends, family, neighbours and community why you participate and why they should too!   Roles/responsibilities:  Invite your friends, family and coworkers to register and Walk their Block Help contact past participants through phone or email Share and tell others why you are walking. Share the website on your facebook page and on local community Facebook pages Share social media posts and lead marketing initiatives created by the marketing managers Mobilize people! Be creative! Share your plan with others! Are you dressing up a family pet? Are you making a sign? Call people to ask if they’ll be walking! Encourage people to take photos and email them or share on social media!
