Opportunity Description:

Good Neighbors Canada, a registered charity in Canada, and a part of the humanitarian development charity Good Neighbors International. We specialize in international community projects in over 40 countries to support and advocate for health, education and development. Good Neighbors Canada is seeking enthusiastic and engaged individuals to support our Pumpkin Spice 5k fundraiser event that is being on October 8th in Greenway Park, London, Ontario. This event is being held to raise money to support our Wishing Well Project, which supports communities in rural Zambia building accessible wells to provide them with safe, clean drinking water. Last year, the first time holding this event, we were able to raise enough money to build three wells. With a dedicated team, we are hoping to double that number this year. We are looking for a number of volunteers to support us on the day of the event. The volunteer positions we have available are: Route Marshal As route marshal, your role is absolutely crucial to bringing positive energy to our participants as they complete their 5K journey! Think words of encouragement, high-fives, and bringing general cheer to our participants as they complete their 5K. Route marshals will be stationed strategically around the 5K track to ensure that participants follow the correct path to complete the entire route. Event Ambassadors The event ambassadors of the Pumpkin Spice 5K will be representing Good Neighbors Canada during the event and creating a positive and welcoming environment for participants. The event ambassadors will be the first point of contact upon arrival, welcoming and directing participants, assisting with registration and answering any questions they may have. Event ambassadors will also greet participants at the finish line of the run and present them with their medals for completing the 5K. Activity Marshal Alongside the 5K run, we will be running activities for participants to enjoy throughout the day. The activity marshal is responsible for supporting the facilitation of these activities. This is to ensure that participants can partake in the activities in a safe and oriented manner whilst having fun! Responsibilities will include setting up, maintaining activity equipment, monitoring activities, and taking down the activity stations. Content Collector We are looking for any up-and-coming or experienced photographers and videographers to document our Pumpkin Spice 5K event! Our content collectors will be assigned specific areas of the event and will be responsible for documenting the event throughout the day, including the registration area, ongoing activities, and the actual run itself. Our content collectors will capture the spirit of the day and share all their work with the Good Neighbors Canada team, so we can display the success of the day through visual content with the community. On-site First Aid There will be a considerable amount of physical activity throughout the event, including long periods of running and walking. Due to the nature of the event, it is vital that we have a knowledgeable and confident certified First Aid responder on-site in case of any incidents or emergencies. We are looking for an individual who is First Aid certified and can be present throughout the duration of the event. On-site Fundraiser Throughout the event, we will continue to collect donations for the Wishing Well campaign, which all proceeds of the event are going towards! The on-site fundraiser will be responsible for managing on-site donations and the raffle we will be holding. This includes accepting change and other forms of payment from participants, as well as selling raffle tickets and promoting the various items included in the raffle.
