Opportunity Description:

LDA-London Region is currently recruiting University and/or College students – 18 to 30 years, who are fun, outgoing, patient and have a warm personality to volunteer as an ONLINE Literacy Tutor this spring. Our literacy program is designed to help students who struggle attaining literacy skills due to an identified or suspected learning disability. As a tutor/mentor you will help the student to improve reading skills by focusing on phonological awareness, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension skills and closing overall learning gaps. You will also help promote a positive outlook by embedding mindfulness techniques. Required Qualifications/Training:  Training is mandatory and is provided to all LDA-LR tutor/mentors A Vulnerable Sectors Check is required by all tutor/mentors in these positions Skills Preferred:  Must have strong literacy skills Must have previous experience working with children and/or youth Must have strong written and communication skills Must have past tutoring experience – personally or professionally
