Special Olympics Ontario – London (Assistant Coaches – Curling)

Volunteer Opportunity: Assistant Coaches for Curling Time Commitment: 2-3 hours/week Sundays  – 9:00-11:00 am Oct 6 2024- March 30 2025 Location: Ilderton Curling Club The role:  No curling experience is required, just warm clothes, clean shoes and a positive attitude. Coaches will be required to support athletes on and off the ice. Off-ice support includes making sure all athletes have appropriate footwear and head protection. On-ice support includes supervising athletes during play and ensuring that everyone is being safe, assisting athletes with delivering rocks and sweeping, ensuring play continues at a reasonable pace, assisting athletes with turn-taking and scoring. Hot chocolate and a quick social occurs after practice, before the majority of the athletes load onto the school bus to take them home.  Volunteers may also ride the bus.
