The Shoebox Project for Women (Local Coordinator – Vancouver Chapter: As a Local Coordinator for The Shoebox Project, you are the lead organizer of the organization’s activities in your community.)

Description: Primary Duties & Responsibilities The primary role of a community coordinator is to identify shelters and resource centres for women in need, identify suitable drop-off locations, market/advertise the drive to your community, quality control the Shoeboxes, and deliver Shoeboxes to the shelters at a mutually agreed time. Other aspects of the role include, but are not limited to: ➔ Act as an ambassador of The Shoebox Project in your community ➔ Develop a network of shelters and resource centres to partner with ➔ Communicating with the national staff on a regular basis regarding your progress (seeking assistance when necessary) ➔ Managing donations/expenses in accordance with organizational procedure ➔ Recruiting and managing a committee of volunteers ➔ Coordinating storage, transportation and delivery of boxes from drop-off locations to shelters ➔ Responding to email inquiries, and contributing web and twitter content for the national staff to distribute Qualifications ● Interest in issues related to women’s homelessness and desire to give back to your community ● Ability to manage a team of volunteers ● Ability to spend 5-15 hours a week during November and December (varies greatly based on size of gift drive, number of volunteers involved, etc.) ● Excellent communication skills – Coordinator is expected to respond to inquiries from community members, coordinate details with shelter staff, work with other local volunteers, and potentially solicit donations from local businesses ● Computer savvy, comfortable communicating via email and connecting through social media Screening: Completed Local Coordinator Application Form, Interview, Reference Check Other Information This position is unpaid. Training required through Video Conference or Call The volunteer contract is for one year, with the expectation of organizing a minimum of one gift drive (during the holidays) in your community and the choice to participate in other activities as desired throughout the year.

Walk the Block for Parkinson's: Marketing Support (remote volunteer position!)

Description: We are currently looking for remote volunteers to help run our annual walk. This event has been a huge success in past years, but this year, we’ve had to adapt the event due to Covid-19, and we are now encouraging people to Walk the Block for Parkinson’s!  The marketing support will assist PSSO staff in managing, creating, and building content to help market the walk. This position will also support the volunteer manager and the outreach manager in giving them content to post and share within their respective roles.   Roles and responsibilities: Build a plan of creative ways to advertise the event alongside the Marketing and Outreach Managers Develop "week at a glance" resources for community champions, containing one thing they can do each day to promote and share the walk in their community Build online marketing materials including but not limited to: posters, social media graphics, mini videos, etc. to be posted on social media and our website Write posts to accompany graphics created for social media Work with the Fund Development Manager to create a marketing plan Develop materials needed by Volunteer Manager and Outreach Manager Time commitment: 10hrs/week

Walk the Block for Parkinson's: Outreach Support (remote volunteer position!)

Description: We are currently looking for remote volunteers to help run our annual walk. This event has been a huge success in past years, but this year, we’ve had to adapt the event due to Covid-19, and we are now encouraging people to Walk the Block for Parkinson’s!   The outreach support will assist PSSO staff and marketing managers in coming up with and implementing creative ways to advertise the event, contacting people/groups/sponsors/local media to ask them to help plug the event, come up with ways to recruit more people to walk. Roles/responsibilities:  Build a plan of creative ways to advertise the event alongside the Marketing Manager Work with Community Champion Leads and Volunteer Manager to build a list of local people, groups, sponsors and local media to reach out to  Build and implement an outreach plan for getting sponsors and recruiting local organizations to get involved Build a plan of how to increase walk participants and implement with volunteer manager, community champion leads and community champions   Time commitment: 10hrs/week

Walk the Block for Parkinson's: Community Champions (remote volunteer position!)

Description: We are currently looking for volunteers to help run our annual walk. This event has been a huge success in past years, but this year, we’ve had to adapt the event due to Covid-19, and we are now encouraging people to Walk the Block for Parkinson’s!    To transition this event, we’ve implemented the Community Champions program: people who would usually be helping out at the walk on the day of the event are now going to be our Champions in spreading the word! As a community champion you will Invite people to be part of the event, Share the event within your community and networks and Mobilize others to make Walk the Block a success by sharing your plans, thinking up creative ideas on how to tell others about the event and encouraging people to communicate online!  We are currently seeking out volunteers for two different positions: Community champion leads and community champions. Community champion leads: Community champion leads are passionate individuals who have the capability to inspire others in the community! In this role, you will support the Community Champions in your area. You will be leaders for these volunteers as you equip them with everything they need to invite, share and mobilize people to walk. Roles/responsibilities:  Communicate with community champions through the facebook group and email to keep them informed on updates with the walk Get community champions involved with the implementation of marketing initiatives leading up to the walk Track what community champions have accomplished and their plans for getting their community involved Recruit community champions (via emails, calls to past participants, etc.) Act as a contact person alongside the community champions in your area to keep the members of your community informed about the walk! Share advertising resources created by marketing team Time commitment: 5 hrs/week   Community Champions: A Community Champion is an enthusiastic individual who has a passion of mobilizing people for a good cause. A Community Champion spreads awareness and excitement around their neighbourhood and community! This role encourages people to participate in WALK THE BLOCK for Parkinson's. Tell all your friends, family, neighbours and community why you participate and why they should too!   Roles/responsibilities:  Invite your friends, family and coworkers to register and Walk their Block Help contact past participants through phone or email Share and tell others why you are walking. Share the website on your facebook page and on local community Facebook pages Share social media posts and lead marketing initiatives created by the marketing managers Mobilize people! Be creative! Share your plan with others! Are you dressing up a family pet? Are you making a sign? Call people to ask if they'll be walking! Encourage people to take photos and email them or share on social media!

Group Leader (advocate)

Autism Speaks Canada Walk on Wheels Car Parade London 2020
