Founded in 2004, Jake’s House is a Provincially and Federally funded Canadian charity with a mission to provide meaningful support to families living with autism across the country. Recognizing that more than any other single issue, families dealing with autism need a community, Jake’s House is committed to growing a strong network of people who understand and care–a family that is determined to provide tangible solutions. Jake’s House supports individuals on the spectrum throughout their lifespans through four core initiatives: 1) Jake’s House Annual Holiday Parties, an 18-year tradition of bringing families together for a welcoming, fun and festive celebration; 2) Legends Mentoring Program, themed group mentoring workshops that provide youth with opportunities to learn skills, socialize and make friends; 3) Jake’s House Employment Mentoring, a program that supports the integration of young adults into the workforce; and 4) inclusive housing solutions, designed to address the growing housing gap in the autism community, giving more aging adults a place to call home. The John Howard Society of London and District is a not-for-profit, charitable organization providing a broad range of evidence-based and outcome-driven community services in London and District. Our organization has a strong history of helping individuals and families who are at risk of, or who have come into conflict with the law.
Our mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. Our work bridges the gap between education and the real world by delivering specialized programs both in school and after school.
Our programs focus on financial health, work readiness and entrepreneurship – giving students in grades 4-12 the tools they need for their futures.
Working with corporate partners, volunteers and teachers, we create important connections to the workforce and prepare youth for the jobs of tomorrow. JA South Western Ontario supports students from Windsor-Essex to Grey-Bruce to Niagara.
JA programs are delivered by dedicated volunteers.
They bring their professional experiences into the classroom to help students connect program concepts with real-life situations. Volunteers use a mix of hands-on activities, discussions and digital learning to engage students and ensure they retain and use what they learn. With their help, students gain the knowledge and confidence they need to define their personal success and go after their dreams.
For over 40 years, JDRF has been a global leader in the search for an end to type 1 diabetes (T1D), through both research funding and advocacy. During that time, we have always talked about a cure as a singular destination: a return to normal physiology.
But today, we realize that we are engaged in a process of curing T1D – that a cure is not just a destination but also a journey along a path. And we recognize that a part of our mission must be to help those living with T1D today to live healthier, easier, and safer lives until we arrive at the end of that path.JDRF’s research is committed to improving the lives of every person with T1D and to curing this disease. JDRF's research goals are realized by the projects being supported in three basic areas: Cure, Treat, Prevent
