Results is an advocacy nonprofit that believes in mobilizing everyday people (our volunteers) to generate the political will to end extreme poverty in low-and middle-income countries. We focus our work on global health, access to quality education and economic opportunities. We direct our energy and efforts at government decision makers like party leaders, Members of Parliament and senators because they have the power to improve policies and make the monetary investments needed to end extreme poverty. We also raise awareness by writing letters to the editor (LTEs) and op-eds, using social media, fundraising and more. Oftentimes the first step is putting these issues on the radar — and keeping the pressure on. It might seem like a small step, but it all adds up into impact. commitment: 1 year minimum, 1-2 hours per week on average support structure: Volunteers (virtually) meet in local groups on a monthly basis and rely on their group leader(s) for guidance. Attending other virtual calls and webinars led by Results staff is recommended. Volunteer Opportunity: 1:1 Community-Based MentorOrganization: Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and AreaLocation: London, Ontario and surrounding areaCommitment: 2–4 hours, twice per month | Minimum 12 monthsBig Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area is seeking caring, committed volunteers to become 1:1 Community-Based Mentors for children and youth ages 7–18. This is our traditional mentoring program, designed to match young people who have faced adversity with a positive adult role model who can provide encouragement, stability, and friendship.As a mentor, you’ll spend time building a meaningful relationship by sharing experiences, exploring the community, trying new activities, and simply having fun together. A morning or afternoon social group/event that promotes health and wellness, social interaction and often includes sharing a meal together. Volunteers help plan, grocery shop, cook, serve a meal, set up/clean up and encourage conversation. Not all locations require set up/clean up. For this role, we are looking for volunteers who have experience working in a kitchen and who have their Safe Food Handler's Certificate, or the equivalent in experience.

Join our Friendly Visiting Program and connect one-on-one with an older adult through weekly phone calls or in-person visits. Just 30 minutes to 1 hour of your time per week can help reduce loneliness and create lasting connections. Visit times are scheduled flexibly between you and your matched client, making it easy to fit into your week while making a big impact!

Volunteer Group Mentor | In-School ProgramBig Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area is looking for volunteers ages 18-30 to lead weekly one-hour group mentoring sessions for 14 weeks. Programs include Go Girls!, Game On!, and Healthy Heroes, which help youth build self-esteem, healthy habits, relationship skills, and confidence through engaging activities and positive discussions. Volunteers should be enthusiastic, willing to try new things, and committed to supporting youth development. A Vulnerable Sector Police Check completed within the last six months is required.

We will be hosting the 59th edition of The Springbank Road Races on Sunday September 27th. Our races this day include a half marathon, 5k, 2.1k and kiddy trot. We are looking for volunteers to help us with various positions on race day including course Marshalls, water stops, food table and bag check. Volunteer positions would run from 8:0am to approximately noon on Sunday morning Sept 27.
