Description: The 2023 Tim Hortons Brier, presented by AGI, will be played March 3-12 at Budweiser Gardens in downtown London and is actively looking for volunteers! The top men’s teams from across the country are coming to London and you can be a part of the action from behind the scenes! There are a variety of positions available from being in-arena as well as opportunities to volunteer at the famous Original 16 Patch, which will be located at RBC Place. The patch will be electrifying with live music and more. Volunteers make it all possible by bartending, bussing, assisting patrons with the cashless banking system and enjoying the camaraderie of the Original 16 Patch. Volunteer Crisis Responder

Description: Volunteer Crisis Responders provide immediate emotional support, practical assistance to those impacted by crime or tragic circumstance. You will respond to requests by Police and other Emergency Services within London and Middlesex County. Most common requests occur after Sudden death, Domestic Violence or House fires. Always work in teams of 2. Training included 40 hours online training courses (23 modules) completed at your own pace over late December/January and 30 hours in-person training (7 training days on some Thursday evening (6:30 pm) and 2 full day Saturdays in February and March). Training is completed by March 30, 2023. Once trained, volunteer schedule their own on-call time (36 hours a month). Great experience if wish to get into a career in Policing or other Emergency Services field. Volunteer advocate - ending extreme poverty

Description: Results is a nonprofit advocacy organization of passionate staff and volunteers committed to generating the political will to end extreme poverty in low- and middle-income countries. We focus our work on global health, access to quality education and economic opportunities. What does political will mean? We believe in mobilizing everyday people (our volunteers) to influence the Government of Canada. We direct our energy and efforts at government decision makers like party leaders, Members of Parliament and senators because they have the power to improve policies and make the monetary investments needed to end extreme poverty. We also raise awareness by writing letters to the editor (LTEs) and op-eds, using social media, fundraising and more. Oftentimes the first step is putting these issues on the radar — and keeping the pressure on. It might seem like a small step, but it all adds up into impact. commitment: 1 year minimum, 1-2 hours per week on average support structure: Volunteers (virtually) meet in local groups on a monthly basis and rely on their group leader(s) for guidance. 24/7 Support Line - Supportive Response Program

Description: Section: Crisis Services, Supportive Response Position Location: VIRTUAL Role Description and Primary Responsibilities: • Ensure reliable and consistent access to a working computer, internet connection and quiet space to provide confidential supportive listening and information as necessary to individuals calling the Support Line. • Assess and triage crisis calls when needed to link callers to the Reach Out Line when necessary. • Utilize a database and other resources to provide community referral information to callers. • Maintain accurate data collection and enter relevant information into the database. • Attend all scheduled training sessions for the Support Line Volunteer role, inclusive of self-directed virtual training modules. Role Specifications and Required Qualifications: • Current Vulnerable Person’s Sector Check. • Sensitivity to the variety of issues that callers will be presenting with, including mental health and/or addictions. • Some knowledge of mental health and/or addictions, CMHA TV AMHS Programs & Services and community resources. • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. • Fluency in French, or another second language, would be an asset to this position. Physical and Mental Requirements: • Must be able to sit for a few hours at a time. • Must be able to maintain a calm demeanor and stay focused in a changing environment; • Must be able to steer conversations to remain appropriate, welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental Commitment: Individuals will volunteer for a minimum of 12 consecutive months, providing 11 hours per month (3 hours to be completed overnight between 12am-6am). Reporting Relationship: The Support Line Volunteer will receive supervision, direction and support from both the Team Lead and Manager of Supportive Response Programs. Summary of Role: Support Line Volunteers are an important part of the core services offered within the full range of Crises Services at the agency. They provide supportive, phone-based listening services to individuals across the Thames Valley region. In the event that a caller is in crisis, the volunteer will connect the caller with appropriate crisis or Emergency services. Support Line Volunteers can provide support with individuals when they are experiencing distress, which is a personal and unique experience. All volunteers will participate in an online self-directed training program along with 3 live virtual group sessions that will consist of core information about mental health and addictions, as well as supportive listening techniques. Volunteers will also be trained on specific policies and procedures that are relevant to this role. Two training shifts with a Volunteer Mentor will follow the training program before engaging with callers.

Tasks include participating in workshops (Culinary, Dance, Craft, Hangout, Minecraft, etc.), assisting program instructors with various tasks, and taking attendance, all while being a positive mentor for participants. The Program Mentor will play a key role in engaging with families and volunteers to provide information and guidance regarding the programs and services provided while remaining empathetic to the parents and their children. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Program Support/Relationship Building: Work closely with instructors and program attendees for the Legends Mentoring Program (LMP) workshops. Attend and assist with workshops and activities to facilitate meaningful cross-cultural exchange through virtual and/or in-person platforms. Navigate and oversee various interpersonal relationships between program participants. Manage and provide support and guidance to families participating in virtual and/or in-person workshops. Develop and execute meaningful family and volunteer recognition that makes the community feel valued and motivated. Ensuring pre and post workshop information is being communicated to families and participants. Maintain positive relationships with families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the general community. Administrative: Take attendance during workshops.
