Painting Instructor at Jake's House

Description: Job Overview: Jake’s House seeks an Art Instructor to lead an in-person workshop in Lucan! Our  Legends Mentoring Program is growing, and we are looking to invite an art teacher to lead a painting workshop for the participants at Jake’s House. The ideal candidate has experience working with children and individuals affected by autism and in a teaching capacity for a painting class. Your passion for arts and the ability to encourage participation and enable social connections within a group will ensure success. Art Instructor Duties: Design a fun and creative painting activity for various participants, including individuals and families affected by Autism. Commit to providing quality instruction sensitive to the needs of the individual and diverse participants. Connect and maintain professional relationships with participants and mentors during the workshops. Motivate students with words of encouragement. Requirements: An interest and passion for art. Art teaching experience is not mandatory. Friendly and outgoing with excellent communication skills. Highly energetic and able to use your voice to keep people motivated and engaged. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is considered a strong asset. Ability to lead a workshop on June 3rd, 10th, 17th, or 24th from 1-2pm. Cooking Instructor at Independence Summer Camp

Description: Summary: Independence Summer Camp is for disabled individuals aged 18-35. This camp is a balance of both education and recreational curriculum. Independence Summer Camp is designed for individuals looking to learn about life skills, make friends, and try new things. We are seeking volunteers to lead workshops for our campers this summer!  The Cooking Instructor would lead four 2-hour workshops for six campers throughout July and August. The workshops can be scheduled according to volunteers' availability. The workshop would also be supported by staff and other volunteers. The Cooking Instructor would have creative control over the workshop and could decide the meal plan. The Cooking Instructor would not be responsible for providing the ingredients or supplies.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities  Design a fun and creative cooking workshop for campers  Provide quality instruction sensitive to the needs of the individual and diverse campers Motivate campers with words of encouragement Model and teach proper kitchen etiquette and safety  Design a meal plan that caters to campers’ allergies and sensitives Requirements: An interest and passion for cooking Experience as a cooking/baking teacher is not a requirement  Availability to attend camp for 2hr workshops throughout July and August  Experience working with individuals with disabilities is considered a vital asset but is not a requirement  Lived experience with disability is a strong asset but not a requirement  Transportation to and from Lambeth is necessary  Location: Lambeth, ON   Contact: camp@larchelondon.org 

Help drive seniors to appointments that have no means of transpertation

Volunteer Fitness Instructor at Summer Camp

I interviewed my dad on video in his final weeks. When I asked about his work and finding meaning through helping others, he responded, “I don’t think you can be focused on, ‘Oh gee, I want to make a difference.’ It has to be spontaneous. If it’s not…there’s some kind of egotistical thing going on. That’s a red flag. You hope you impact people on the deepest level you are capable of at the time. Sometimes you hit it, sometimes you don’t. You’re trying.
