Volunteer Opportunity: 1:1 Community-Based MentorOrganization: Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and AreaLocation: London, Ontario and surrounding areaCommitment: 2–4 hours, twice per month | Minimum 12 monthsBig Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area is seeking caring, committed volunteers to become 1:1 Community-Based Mentors for children and youth ages 7–18. This is our traditional mentoring program, designed to match young people who have faced adversity with a positive adult role model who can provide encouragement, stability, and friendship.As a mentor, you’ll spend time building a meaningful relationship by sharing experiences, exploring the community, trying new activities, and simply having fun together. Your consistency and presence can help build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging in a young person’s life.What You’ll Do• Meet with your mentee twice per month for 2–4 hours per visit• Commit to the match for a minimum of one year (12 consecutive months) from time of matching• Engage in fun, low-cost community activities or spend time together in everyday settings• Provide positive guidance, encouragement, and supportRequirements• Must live in London, Ontario or the surrounding area for the duration of the match• Commit to consistent meetings for one full year• While owning a vehicle is not required, mentors are responsible for arranging transportation for their mentee from their home to the activity and backPlease note: If you are a student who leaves London during the summer months or are unable to commit year-round, we encourage you to consider our In-School Mentoring Program, which may be a better fit for your schedule.Who We’re Looking For• Caring, dependable adults who want to make a difference• Individuals who can model positive relationships and healthy decision-making• Volunteers who are patient, open-minded, and committedWhy Volunteer?Mentoring changes lives, including your own.
