Empathy Squad *VIRTUAL* Audio Storytellering and Podcasting (Winter 2024)

Description: Gather Oral Histories to Foster Empathy and Build your Podcasting Skills The Empathy Squad program trains and equips youth aged 18 to 30 years from across Canada to generate empathy-building dialogue through the collection of stories via interviews and the creation of podcast pieces.    As a participant, you will:  ✅ Acquire the knowledge and practical skills needed to produce high-quality audio stories - interviewing and recording techniques, narrative shaping, and audio-editing;  ✅ Volunteer in service of your community, learn about what’s important to them through active listening and help foster empathy for their lived experiences;  ✅ Experience hands-on learning alongside fellow future leaders and from industry professionals across the country.    Program Expectations:  Have a laptop available to you on which you can download and install: Slack (Mac OS / Windows OS), Descript (find system requirements here), Google Chrome, Zoom;  Attend scheduled Zoom sessions that consist of live demonstrations, instructional videos and feedback sharing from facilitators, Guest Artists and peers;  Apply learnings by conducting interviews, using audio recording equipment, and completing assignments using audio-editing software, Descript;  Engage with facilitators and peers using program communication platforms (Slack, Zoom, provided Empathy Squad email address);  Commit 10-12 hours a week, including scheduled Zoom sessions and work in your own time.    Application Process:  Interested volunteers are asked to fill out our application form here: https://www.fixtpoint.com/empathysquad-apply  NOTE: Applications for Cohorts 15 & 16 are now closed.   Cohorts 17 & 18 will run simultaneously from January to March 2024.  Applications for Cohorts 17 & 18 will remain open until further notice! Results Canada Fellow - ending extreme poverty

Description: Join the next cohort of the Results Canada Education and Advocacy Fellowship Program! It is a 11-month hands-on advocacy and leadership training program for volunteers that will develop their skills in generating the political will to end extreme poverty in low- and middle-income countries. It is open to individuals aged 18 years and older who are based in Canada. Description: The London Branch of the Willow Youth Network is recruiting for the 2023-2024 year! We are looking to fill several positions on the Executive Team. Willow Youth Network is a national nonprofit located on Turtle Island, otherwise known as “Canada”.  We empower a generation of young leaders by providing free and accessible programming aimed at promoting gender equity. We partner with community organizations and schools to provide free workshops catered to the needs of each community. Some of our workshop topics include body image, leadership, and safety through social media use. We fundraise to enable our operations within the communities we serve as well as to support and uplift other grassroots organizations working to serve the community. We use our social media platforms to highlight role models in the community and highlight ongoing events and initiatives. We foster a safer, non-judgemental, and supportive space to learn and grow together. We make mistakes and learn from them in order to become better global citizens. Our programming focuses include youth engagement, discussion-based learning, and asking difficult questions of ourselves and others. JA In-School Program Facilitator

JA will provide you with all the lesson plans and materials for a fun and engaging day of learning supported by the classroom teacher. JA is a leader in preparing young people for success in an ever-changing global economy. Your Role JA Program Facilitators will join a class in-person to deliver one of JA’s financial health, entrepreneurship, or work readiness programs, by using a mix of hands-on activities, discussions, and digital learning to engage students. JA will provide volunteers with all the lesson plans and materials for a fun and engaging day of learning supported by the classroom teacher. With your help, students can gain the knowledge and confidence they need to define their personal success and go after their dreams. Qualifications Must be available for a volunteer interview and complete all screening requirements and reference checks. Confident presenting to and working with young people Relevant work and/or educational experience (i.e., Business, Finance, etc.) Strong communication skills that are effective with youth. Must be 18 years or older to volunteer. Volunteers do not need a particular background of area of expertise to be an effective Program Facilitator--most important is the desire to help students achieve their highest potential. Training & Support Prior to joining a class, you will receive a 1-hour program training session, available in person or online (program dependent), includes: JA orientation Roles & responsibilities Program delivery overview JA will provide all presentation content and resources needed to deliver the program. Time Commitment This is an in-school program that runs approx. 6 hours. (full school day) This opportunity requires volunteers to prepare and read program material in advance in order to lead a successful student experience. JA Company Program Mentor

Description: About JA Through the delivery of hands-on learning in entrepreneurship, financial health and work readiness, JA empowers young people to grow their entrepreneurial ideas, hone their work skills, manage their earnings, and secure better lives for themselves and their communities. JA is a leader in preparing young people for success in an ever-changing global economy. Your Role  Partnered with a team of other volunteers, a JA Company Program Volunteer Mentor becomes a business advisor, role model, and facilitator for a group of 10-15 high school students. Mentors help foster participants’ entrepreneurial spirit and support students through an 18-week entrepreneurial journey in which they create, manage, and liquidate a real start-up business. Resources, training, and support for all volunteers are provided by JA. Qualifications Must be available for volunteer interview and complete all screening protocols, including a Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sectors Search Confident presenting to and working with young people Relevant work and/or educational experience (i.e. Business, Finance, etc.) Strong communication skills that are effective with youth Must be 18 years or older to volunteer Volunteers do not need a particular background of area of expertise to be an effective Company Program Mentor. Most important is an ability to foster good teamwork and a desire to support youth in an impactful way. You will decide what activities to do based on common interests. For example, playing a board game or creating a craft.

Group Mentor

Organization: Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area

Description: Group mentors must be between the ages of 18-25. Time commitment: 1 hour once a week for 8 weeks. What & Where: We offer two group mentoring programs for youth in grades 6-8: 1) Go Girls (for female-identifying youth) 2) Game On (for male-identifying youth). Both programs run over 8 weeks and help youth learn to make informed choices about leading a healthy lifestyle. As a mentor, you will be paired up with another mentor and together you will deliver the program in a local school. These programs run in fall, winter and spring.

Database analyst

Responsibilities: Depurate and complete information of our database by merging information of different files. Assist with data entry and record keeping, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date. It include call different organizations. Carry out a search for new organizations to expand our database. What you will bring: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and problem – solving skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Be detail-oriented and like working independently. Familiarize with CRM platforms. Competence in the use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT platforms. Capability to operate in a multi-cultural setting. Knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc) This is an unpaid volunteer position, but volunteers will gain valuable experience, as well as the opportunity to be a part of a dynamic and mission-driven team.
