JA In-School Program Facilitator
Organization: Junior Achievement South Western OntarioCategory: Education / Training / Teaching
Description: Visit a local elementary or high school classroom to facilitate one of JA’s financial health, entrepreneurship, or work readiness programs. JA will provide you with all the lesson plans and materials for a fun and engaging day of learning supported by the classroom teacher. About JA Through the delivery of hands-on learning in entrepreneurship, financial health and work readiness, JA empowers young people to grow their entrepreneurial ideas, hone their work skills, manage their earnings, and secure better lives for themselves and their communities. JA is a leader in preparing young people for success in an ever-changing global economy. Your Role JA Program Facilitators will join a class in-person to deliver one of JA’s financial health, entrepreneurship, or work readiness programs, by using a mix of hands-on activities, discussions, and digital learning to engage students. JA will provide volunteers with all the lesson plans and materials for a fun and engaging day of learning supported by the classroom teacher. With your help, students can gain the knowledge and confidence they need to define their personal success and go after their dreams. Qualifications Must be available for a volunteer interview and complete all screening requirements and reference checks. Confident presenting to and working with young people Relevant work and/or educational experience (i.e., Business, Finance, etc.) Strong communication skills that are effective with youth. Must be 18 years or older to volunteer. Volunteers do not need a particular background of area of expertise to be an effective Program Facilitator--most important is the desire to help students achieve their highest potential. Training & Support Prior to joining a class, you will receive a 1-hour program training session, available in person or online (program dependent), includes: JA orientation Roles & responsibilities Program delivery overview JA will provide all presentation content and resources needed to deliver the program. Time Commitment This is an in-school program that runs approx. 6 hours. (full school day) This opportunity requires volunteers to prepare and read program material in advance in order to lead a successful student experience. JA Company Program Mentor

Description: About JA Through the delivery of hands-on learning in entrepreneurship, financial health and work readiness, JA empowers young people to grow their entrepreneurial ideas, hone their work skills, manage their earnings, and secure better lives for themselves and their communities. JA is a leader in preparing young people for success in an ever-changing global economy. Your Role Partnered with a team of other volunteers, a JA Company Program Volunteer Mentor becomes a business advisor, role model, and facilitator for a group of 10-15 high school students. Mentors help foster participants’ entrepreneurial spirit and support students through an 18-week entrepreneurial journey in which they create, manage, and liquidate a real start-up business. Resources, training, and support for all volunteers are provided by JA. Qualifications Must be available for volunteer interview and complete all screening protocols, including a Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sectors Search Confident presenting to and working with young people Relevant work and/or educational experience (i.e. Business, Finance, etc.) Strong communication skills that are effective with youth Must be 18 years or older to volunteer Volunteers do not need a particular background of area of expertise to be an effective Company Program Mentor. Most important is an ability to foster good teamwork and a desire to support youth in an impactful way. Training & Support Prior to the start of the program, Company Program Volunteers receive the following supports: JA Company Program orientation package 2 hour group training session facilitated online Access to program resources JA will provide all presentation content and resources needed to facilitate the program and offer ongoing support throughout the experience. Time Commitment This is an after-school program which takes place in the evening. Volunteers should be able to commit approximately 2-3 hours of their time per week for this volunteer opportunity. Volunteers can choose to participate in-person or virtually. 1:1 Mentor in Community
Organization: Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and AreaCategory: Children & Youth
Description: Make a BIG difference this year by supporting children & youth in the London community. Time Commitment: 2-4 hours once a week for at least 12 months What & Where: You will be matched with a Little between the ages of 7 to 16. Together, you’ll decide what you would like to do. It might be going for a hike, playing a board game, or simply hanging out. Meetings will take place in the community and in your home.
1:1 Mentor in School
Organization: Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and AreaCategory: Children & Youth
Description: Time commitment: 1 hour once a week for the academic year What & Where: You will be matched with a Little that is in grade 1-8 and will meet with them at their school. You will decide what activities to do based on common interests. For example, playing a board game or creating a craft.
Group Mentor
Organization: Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and AreaCategory: Children & Youth
Description: Group mentors must be between the ages of 18-25. Time commitment: 1 hour once a week for 8 weeks. What & Where: We offer two group mentoring programs for youth in grades 6-8: 1) Go Girls (for female-identifying youth) 2) Game On (for male-identifying youth). Both programs run over 8 weeks and help youth learn to make informed choices about leading a healthy lifestyle. As a mentor, you will be paired up with another mentor and together you will deliver the program in a local school. These programs run in fall, winter and spring.
Community Support Volunteer
Organization: PHSS Medical & Complex Care in CommunityCategory: Social and Community Service
Description: Do you want to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities? Join us at PHSS and be part of our mission to support individuals with developmental, medical, and/or complex physical needs to live in their own homes, and participate in community with family and friends! Time Commitment: 1-4 hours weekly for a minimum of 6 months. The Opportunity: You will be matched with a person(s) supported to build a meaningful connection and engage in shared activities (e.g. reading, art, cooking, games, community events, etc.).
