JA Company Program Mentor

Description: Empower the next generation of business leaders as a JA Company Program Mentor! Work with a group of highly engaged youth as they start and run their very own business. About JA Through the delivery of hands-on learning in entrepreneurship, financial health and work readiness, JA empowers young people to grow their entrepreneurial ideas, hone their work skills, manage their earnings, and secure better lives for themselves and their communities. JA is a leader in preparing young people for success in an ever-changing global economy. Your Role Partnered with a team of other volunteers, a JA Company Program Volunteer Mentor becomes a business advisor, role model, and facilitator for a group of 10-15 high school students. Mentors help foster participants’ entrepreneurial spirit and support students through an 18-week entrepreneurial journey in which they create, manage, and liquidate a real start-up business. Resources, training, and support for all volunteers are provided by JA. Qualifications Must be available for a volunteer interview and complete all screening requirements, including a Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search Confident presenting to and working with young people Relevant work and/or educational experience (i.e., Business, Finance, etc.) Strong communication skills that are effective with youth Must be 18 years or older to volunteer Volunteers do not need a particular background of area of expertise to be an effective Company Program Mentor. Most important is an ability to foster good teamwork and a desire to support youth in an impactful way. Training & Support Prior to the program start, Company Program Volunteers receive the following supports: JA Company Program orientation package 2 hour group training session facilitated online Access to program resources JA will provide all presentation content and resources needed to facilitate the program and ongoing support throughout the experience. Time Commitment This is an after-school program which takes place in the evening. Volunteers should be able to commit approximately 2-3 hours of their time per week for this volunteer opportunity. Volunteers can choose to participate in-person or virtually. Summer Night 5k Road Race

2024 MS Bike - Grand Bend to London

Description: The 2024 MS Bike Grand Bend to London is taking place on July 27th and 28th between the Grand Bend Motorplex and Western University! MS Bike is the largest fundraising cycling series in North America. Cyclists of all ages and fitness levels across Canada come together each year to end Canada’s disease: multiple sclerosis.   There are various areas on site such as event set up/wrap up, participant check in area, breakfast area, bike storage, luggage storage, start/finish line cheering, & many more!!  Volunteer help is needed to ensure that this event runs smoothly and participants have a great experience while they are biking to raise critical funds to support those affected by MS.   Interested? Here’s what we’re looking for: Energized and positive attitude: A friendly face helps create a fun atmosphere! Passion for supporting the MS Community and funding MS research Self‐motivated and reliable; able to fulfill duties on time Previous experience managing people is considered an asset   Time Commitment: Attend the event for anywhere from 2‐8 hours on July 27th or 28th depending on your shift and commitment desire   Why Volunteer? Assistant Coaches - 10 Pin Bowling

Volunteer Opportunity: Assistant Coaches for 10 Pin Bowling Time Commitment: 2 hours/week Wednesdays  - 6:00-8:00 pm Sept 2024- April 2025 Location: Fleetway 40, Proudfoot Lane, London The role:  Assistant coaches would guide athletes through various activities throughout practice. Their roles involve attending all practice sessions, assisting the head coach with practice ideas, and mostly involving themselves in practice by guiding athletes toward the given objective. Description: Special Olympics Ontario/London is dedicated to enriching the lives of Londoners with an intellectual disability through sport. We support 18 different sports with over 400 athletes. Volunteer Opportunity: Fitness Coach Time commitment: every third Saturday from 11-12pm  We are looking for a Fitness Coach to help out with a 45-50 min class with our athletes about every 3rd week. The idea of our class is to try and get athletes moving around to fun music!
