- Harvest Hands is a monthly volunteer opportunity that takes place on the 2nd Thursday of each month- One of the benefits of this role is that volunteers can choose the location that works best for them, either 202 McNay St or 1194 Commissioners Rd W- Volunteers help with a variety of hands-on tasks that support the distribution of food and essential supplies to community members. Responsibilities include unloading deliveries, bringing food and supplies into the lounge, unpacking and organizing items, setting up for distribution, handing out food and supplies, and assisting with clean-up afterward- Additional tasks may include wiping down tables, sweeping floors, breaking down cardboard boxes, and sorting recyclables.- Please note that delivery times can vary each month, so volunteers need to be available and on standby that morning. You'll receive your expected arrival time between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m. Shifts are approximately three hours in length.

Volunteers deliver fresh fruits, vegetables, and other food items to designated residential complexes, helping ensure community members have access to healthy, affordable food through the Food Bank and Good Food Box (GFB) programs.The Food Bank deliveries are on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at 2pm. The GFB deliveries are all on the last Monday of the month at 12:30pm.Please note: A personal vehicle is required for this role, and mileage reimbursement is not available.
